On Friday 28 March the Superpole qualifying session had been a successful outing for Jeremy and his squad, as he secured fourth place in only his second WorldSSP race weekend.
Alcoba and his Ninja ZX-6R 636 started from the second row of the grid on the opening race, which held in warm and sunny conditions, and immediately got involved in a fight for the off-podium places with several other riders.
Jeremy had been running in sixth place for a time, and although always part of the intense battle for fifth place, he would end up ninth as a close group of riders flashed across the start/finish line for the 17th time.
Having now completed only his third WorldSSP race on the 636cc Ninja he is seventh overall in the championship standings, having scored solid points in all the races so far.
On Sunday at Portimao the final day of action will feature a second 17-lap race, with the same scheduled start time as the Saturday event, at 12.35.
Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “Considering that I started from the second row, I’m not happy with today’s result. Unfortunately, I really struggled during the first part of the race and didn’t have good feeling with the bike. I battled as part of the chasing group and in the last laps was able to pick up the pace, which leaves me optimistic for tomorrow’s race. Now the team will analyse the data collected to further improve our bike.”
