Öncü scored points in Race Two at the most previous round but his immediate aim to improve on his season-best fifth place finish in Race One at Portimao in early August.
Can has had an even better best-of-2024 performance in Superpole qualifying at the second round in Catalunya, where he was second on the Race One grid. This season Superpole qualifying sessions take place on Fridays, not Saturdays, as they did in previous seasons.
After the short and tight circuit layout at Cremona last time out, Motorland is the polar opposite in design. It measures 5.077km long in its WorldSBK/WorldSSP format, with long and wide chicanes and very few tight corners. Built on a massive scale as a race and development facility in general for this rural area of Spain to enjoy, it is now a much-used and highly regarded WorldSSP stopping-off point.
As usual there will be two WorldSSP races at round ten, with one taking place on Saturday 28 September and one on Sunday 29 September.
Can Öncü, stated: “I like the Motorland Aragon circuit and scored a third-place finish there in 2022. Last season I didn’t do well because I wasn’t fully fit, but this year we’re ready and determined. I’ll do my best to exploit the full potential of the Ninja ZX-6R to score the best possible results.”
After the conclusion of the Motorland round there will be a break in race action of just one week before two back-to-back rounds, at Estoril and then finally Jerez, complete the season.
