Both riders raced at Balaton last year - but only Jeremy was on the official Ninja ZX-6R 636 WorldSSP bike at that time. Aegerter was a WorldSBK competitor in 2025, having been a double WorldSSP champion and a single-season MotoE champion before he competed for a few seasons in WorldSBK.
After three complete rounds and six individual races of the 2026 ‘Next Generation’ WorldSSP campaign, Alcoba is eighth overall. Aegerter is 15th, but has had the best individual race performance for the team so far this year, after taking sixth place at the historic Assen in Race One.
With Superpole Qualifying taking place on Friday 1 May at Balaton, a good start to the weekend is an important early goal for both riders, as this session determines grid positions for Race One, to be held on Saturday 2 May. Sunday 3 May will see the top nine grid slots for the 18-lap Race Two allocated to the riders who set the fastest nine laps of Race One.
On paper, Balaton appears to be more of a natural WorldSSP circuit than an WorldSBK one, as it features lots of tight corners, chicanes, and sharp braking areas. It also, however, rewards a strong corner exit performance from all those slow corner exits, making it a more challenging modern layout than its very geometric nature suggests.
After Balaton Park, the entire WorldSSP Circus will return to Central Europe, with Autodrom Most hosting Round Five, in Czechia, between 15-17 May.
Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “Last year, we only scored a few points in Hungary, but I have to say I like the track, and after positive races at Assen and improvements made to our Ninja ZX-6R 636, I think we can have a different weekend, battling at the front. I’m highly motivated and pleased we now have some rounds one after the other, because it means I can spend more time on the bike, learning to exploit its full potential.”
Dominique Aegerter, stated: “The Balaton track, which I saw for the first time last season, is very technical with many chicanes. I was riding in WorldSBK then, so it’ll be different this time of course, competing in WorldSSP. I’ve trained hard in recent weeks, also competing in some MX races in Switzerland and making some laps with the training ZX-6R 636 at a small Swiss track. Our goal, as ever, is to keep improving and become more competitive. We’ll need to find a good feeling and the best setup for our bike as quickly as possible, if we want to aim for a top five finish in the two races.”
