Kawasaki WorldSSP Team Ready For A New Era

Jeremy Alcoba got his final pre-season preparations wrapped-up at Phillip Island in Australia, after completing a two-day test session held between 17-18 February. He ended up in overall 17th place in the timesheets.

New is the operative word for all involved the single rider Kawasaki WorldSSP Team set-up which will soon take part in the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship.

Alcoba is new to the entire WorldSSP class, as well as his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team. The Ninja ZX-6R 636 he will compete on is the first Kawasaki WorldSSP entry to feature a 636cc engine displacement, plus a number of other refinements to make it more competitive inside the current ‘Next Generation’ landscape of WorldSSP racing.

After two day on track and despite many interruptions due to red flag incidents during testing, Alcoba is now ready to take his first steps into the new WorldSSP landscape at the opening round on Friday 21 February. He set his fastest time in the third of four sessions, and was very close to this mark in the final session of the entire test.

There will be two WorldSSP races at Phillip Island to start the season, with the first on Saturday 22 February the second on Sunday 23. As last year, the Superpole qualifying session will take place on the first day of each race weekend, which at PI means Friday 21 February.

The Saturday and Sunday races will be held at 14.30 each day, with the local time in Australia being ten hours ahead of CET.

Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “I’m not totally satisfied with the way these last two days have gone. On day one we were lacking continuity due to several interruptions with red flags. We tried many things but without managing to define anything. Today we focused on certain aspects of the bike and our work was constructive, allowing us to find a good race pace. I’m not pleased with my position in the standings, of course, because we are far from the front-runners, but I know we still have a lot of work to do. We will do our best during this first championship round.”
