Gerloff and his team recently unveiled their final 2025 package at their global launch in Italy, shortly before the team made the long journey to Australia for the forthcoming test and subsequent opening round of the year.
A long series of track tests at Jerez in the winter months, rounded off by another session at Portimao, have seen rider and team work well together to develop a final pre-season machine set-up for Garrett in what is his first WorldSBK season racing for Kawasaki.
The final two days of pre-season testing will also be important to make final decisions on set-up for what will be three points scoring races at Phillip Island.
This year the ‘long’ WorldSBK races will be held in two halves, with a mandatory tyre change stop in the middle for all riders. There will also be the now traditional ten lap ‘sprint’ race, which awards half points for the top nine riders.
Garrett Gerloff, stated: “I think I have had three tests in Jerez this winter so it was nice to go to Portimao recently, which has a different layout. It rained for a day and a half there, so all-in-all I have not had too many laps on the bike at different tracks. I am excited to be here and it looks like the weather is maybe going to be nice for the two test days. We have tried some different set-ups in testing already, but not as many as we would have liked. This Phillip Island test should open up some opportunities for us to try some new things and different things.”
Manuel Puccetti, Team Principal, stated: “Now we are in Australia, ready for the two days of tests that will complete our winter testing program, in which we have put a significant effort, both technical and economic. Gerloff has already shown good potential.”
