Having secured fifth place on the starting grid and scored one point in qualifying, the Kawasaki Webike Trickstar team went into the 8 Hours of Spa Motos with the aim of building on its positive momentum at a circuit renowned for being demanding and less suited to the bike’s characteristics.
The race got underway at 13-00 CEST on Saturday on a completely dry track, despite overcast skies. After an excellent start, Róman Ramos Alvaro quickly joined the leading group. Performing strongly right from the first few laps, the Spaniard helped the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR establish a firm hold in the top three. Thanks to exceptionally low fuel consumption without compromising performance, the team briefly took the lead right at the start of the race.
The gap at the front remained extremely tight for a long time, and the three riders, Róman Ramos Alvaro, Christian Gamarino and Grégory Leblanc, demonstrated remarkable consistency. Whenever the weather changed, the team led by Ryuji Tsuruta demonstrated excellent judgement in their choice of Bridgestone tyres and in adapting to the rapidly changing track conditions.
Firmly in third place from the very start of the race, the #11 Kawasaki stuck to its racing plan, disrupted only briefly by a high-side from Christian Gamarino with around three hours to go. With no major consequences for the bike or the rider, this isolated incident required only a quick pit stop, allowing the team to retain their place on the provisional podium.
Thanks to this third-place finish, Kawasaki Webike Trickstar scored 21 points in the race, bringing their total for the weekend to 22 points. The reward for successfully combining performance, consistency and strategic intelligence on a circuit where the team was particularly keen to achieve a benchmark result.
The FIM EWC World Championship will now continue in Japan with the Suzuka 8 Hours, scheduled for 5 July. On the back of two consecutive podium finishes, the Kawasaki Webike Trickstar team will approach this round with the aim of building on this momentum to consolidate its position in the overall standings.
