As the tenth round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship began for Garrett Gerloff and his Kawasaki WorldSBK Team, they could not have hoped for better weather conditions to work in. Sunshine and a dry track surface helped them make early progress at the 5.077km long Spanish circuit.
Garrett ended up setting his fastest single lap of the day in the first free practice session while riding his Ninja ZX-10RR. He would narrowly miss out on improving his time in FP2, by just 0.007 seconds.
Now he and his tech crew will work on finding that last piece of the single lap puzzle in FP3 before he takes on the Tissot-Superpole Qualifying session on Saturday morning, 27 September.
The first full distance Race One, over 18 laps of the longest circuit on the WorldSBK calendar, will take place at 12.35 local time in Spain.
Garrett Gerloff stated: “It didn’t feel too bad this morning by the end of the FP1 session. I felt like we made some improvements and we finished inside the top ten. I was kind of hoping to start the second session right where we left off but everybody is going fast. I am not super-far off but it is still difficult. We need to make some changes for tomorrow and find some more time.”
