The previous Misano event was held at one the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team’s home venues in mid-June. The Donington round therefore ends a kind of mid-season mini-break in the race schedule, just as the championship crosses over into the second half of its total duration in the next few days.
Riding the Ninja ZX-10RR in WorldSBK for the first time this year Gerloff has also recently re-signed for another campaign in 2026. He is currently 17th in the 2025 championship standings, with a single best result of eighth at the most recent Misano race.
Donington is a track with two very contrasting layouts along its 4.023km length. The first section, right after the short start/finish line, is heavily undulating, with many fast changes of direction and high lean angles all the way up towards the back straight. The final ‘Melbourne Loop’ section features a quick one-line chicane and then two hairpins, with these heavy braking and slow cornering areas providing a great contrast to the more expansive parts of the circuit.
After the completion of the Donington Round the eighth stop on the campaign trail will take WorldSBK to a whole new track in Hungary. The Balaton Park circuit will host its first WorldSBK weekend between 25-27 July.
Garrett Gerloff stated: “I’m excited for Donington, it’s a track I really enjoy. I consider the UK to be my second home, so I’m looking forward to it. My aim is to confirm and perhaps even improve on the Misano results. This circuit has been good for the Kawasaki in the past, so let’s say if we can have a good race weekend and put the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team closer to the front.”
