After some excellent recent performances, Gerloff is ranked 11th in the official points table, although he is equal on 68 points with another competitor who is ranked tenth in the official championship standings.
Now, after a two-day test at his team’s home track in Italy, Garrett is heading to the expansive Motorland Aragon Circuit in northern Spain to try and mine his current rich seam of form even more deeply.
Gerloff is particularly keen to see how he and his machine can square up to a strong field of opponents at a circuit he has scored two podium finishes at in the past - on two different makes of machine.
At 5.077km in length, the Motorland circuit is the longest on the current WorldSBK campaign trail, and features a vast back straight. It also has several combinations of corners in the early sectors of the layout, and several changes of elevation.
Free Practice One and Two will begin the track action at Motorland on Friday 29 May. Saturday hosts an FP3 session, then Superpole Qualifying, and finally an 18-lap Race One. The short Tissot Superpole Race and a full 18-lap Race Two will round out the action in Aragon on Sunday 31 May.
The Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ hosts the seventh round of the WorldSBK championship, two weeks after Motorland Aragon, with track action taking place between 12-14 June.
Garrett Gerloff stated: “I really like the Motorland Aragon track, and I've scored podiums there in the past. It's a track that suits some bikes and others less so, so I hope our updated Ninja ZX-10RR is competitive. After the recent tests at the Misano World Circuit, I'm confident I can do well in this sixth round, in Spain. I’ll give it my all, along with my team, to confirm my position near the top of the standings.”
