Jeremy had to start the opening WorldSSP race of the Donington Park weekend from the last row of the grid, having been subject to a penalty for not respecting a yellow warning flag in an earlier session on track. He had qualified in 13th place based on his best lap time before he had to move to the back of the grid.

Despite starting so far behind the leaders Jeremy demonstrated true pace and total commitment as he moved up to 20th after just one lap, and got himself into a points scoring position just two laps later.

Using his Ninja ZX-6R 636 to the full he got into the top ten before the halfway point of the 19-lap race had been completed. He reached seventh position on lap 15 and remained in that placing until the end.

The opening WorldSSP race was held in warm conditions, with the 4.023km long track surface reaching 40°C during the race. 

Sunday 13 July will host the second and final 19-lap WorldSSP race at Donington Park, which has a different start time from today’s contest. The lights will go green on Sunday at 15.15, as opposed to Saturday’s 13.35 start time.

Jeremy Alcoba stated: “We went from the last row of the grid to P7, so we made a really big comeback. I want to say thank you to all of my team because from Friday to today they made a really good step with the bike set-up on the Ninja ZX-6R 636. Even in the morning warm-up I felt really fast and really good. We found the grip that we were missing in the Superpole Qualifying session on Friday. I am really happy for the race in general, because I made my best start and was very calm. I tried to manage the tyres through all the race. I was thinking that I should not make some errors that I would pay for later. I am really happy because I fought a lot and enjoyed it a lot. I hope tomorrow that starting from 14th position on the grid should be really better.”
