Having completed the first three rounds of his rookie WorldSSP campaign, Alcoba sits seventh overall, after taking part in six individual races on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636. With a personal best race result of fifth so far, he has also scored points in every race.
This particular weekend in Cremona offers up the extra interest of the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team racing at its home round. The HQ of Manuel Puccetti’s squad is located just an hour or so south east of the short but intense Cremona Circuit.
Recently homologated for the WorldSSP category the Ninja ZX-6R 636 has helped Jeremy make a positive start to his first championship campaign in this production-derived class. His team’s home round would be the ideal location in which to secure a first podium in this category of racing.
At 3.768km in length Cremona offers an almost complete contrast to the most recent WorldSSP venue of Assen in the Netherlands. Cremona contains most of its 13 corners in one tight and twisting early section, before a hairpin turn leads the competitors onto the long back straight and the final three turns.
This is the second time Cremona has been used as a venue for WorldSSP racing, but it will be a new experience for Jeremy and his ZX-6R 636.
As usual, there are two WorldSSP races scheduled for the Cremona race weekend - each over 20 laps. Friday, 2 May, will host Superpole qualifying, with Race One on Saturday, 3 May, and Race Two on Sunday, 4 May.
Jeremy Alcoba stated: “I don’t know the Cremona track, but I’ll do all I can to learn it as quickly as possible so we can have a good qualifying session and not compromise the races. We continue to improve and have the potential to fight at the front. It would be wonderful to score a good result at Cremona, which represents a home round for the team.”
