Alcoba Keen To Get Into Action At Assen

Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) will take part in only his third FIM Supersport World Championship round when he gets to one of the all-time classic motorcycle racing venues in a few days time. The TT Circuit Assen will be the host venue for the third round, with three days of track action getting underway on 11 April and ending on 13 April.

Recent Moto2 rider Alcoba, still just 23 years-of-age, has started his rookie season in the FIM Supersport World Championship in strong form, with a personal best individual race finish so far of fifth on his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636. Jeremy has scored points in all four races that have comprised the early season contests in 2025.

This is also the first year of competition for the 636cc ZX-6R in WorldSSP, making the overall seventh place held by Jeremy - after just four races - a very positive start for the rider, his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team and the latest Ninja in what is regarded as a particularly competitive season for the ‘middleweight’ category inside the WorldSBK paddock.

Jeremy and his peer group were last in action at the Portimao round (held quite recently between 28-30 March) a fact which Alcoba thinks will benefit him as he is still learning some of the subtleties of his production-derived machine. His memories of finishing another two WorldSSP races well inside the points scoring places in Portugal are evidently still fresh in his mind.

Jeremy has a particularly fond memory of Assen from his days in the Moto3 class, as he took pole position there in 2021.

There will be two races at Assen for the WorldSSP riders; one on Saturday 12 April and the second on 13 April. Each is scheduled for 18 laps of the 4.542km long circuit. Superpole qualifying will be held on Friday 11 April, to determine each rider’s grid position for the opening race.

Race Two follows a slightly different format of allocating grid positions - for the riders who set the fastest nine individual race laps in Race One, at least. Those quickest nine lap times are now used to determine the grid order for the second race, with the fastest rider on pole, the second fastest on the second grid spot, and so on - all the way down to ninth grid position for the rider who set the ninth fastest lap of Race One.

Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “I’m really excited and highly motivated ahead of the Assen round. This time we haven’t had to wait long after Portimao, where we had a good weekend but did not yet express our full potential. So, I can’t wait to get back on my Ninja ZX-6R 636 and get to work with my team, with whom I’m getting on really well. It looks like the weather might be good and this is very important. I really like the track and got pole position here in Moto3.”
