At his team’s home venue of Misano WorldSSP ‘rookie’ Alcoba had two days in which to unleash more potential from his machine without the normal stresses of a full race weekend to contend with.
Misano features a flat but varied 4.226km long layout that Jeremy knows well from his previous racing experiences. This track knowledge made Misano a particularly useful venue for Jeremy to understand the changes made to his machine and its set-up over the course of two full days.
Acceleration was one area of notable improvement made by Jeremy and his technical crew. Despite not focusing on setting fast single lap times Alcoba finished up as the second quickest of the eight WorldSSP riders that shared the track with several WorldSBK regulars and test teams between 27-28 May.
The Kawasaki WorldSSP Team also did important work in preparing for the sixth round of the WorldSSP season - which also takes place at the Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ - between 13-15 June.
Misano will be the second home event of the season for Jeremy’s Italian-based Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, after a recent round at Cremona. It will also mark the halfway point on the 12-round campaign trail that started in Australia in February.
Jeremy Alcoba stated: “Two really important days, in which we’ve tried many things and found solutions that we’ll use during the next round here at Misano. The bike is increasingly competitive and, with the new components, the acceleration has improved too. We chose to focus on race pace rather than on the flying lap, and we’ll work on that during the race weekend. We’re ready for the second home round!”
