MXGP Timed Practice was something of a lottery as track conditions were continually changing following heavy overnight rain and Febvre could only earn eleventh choice of gate for Qualifying. The Frenchman made the most of his central gate to sweep wide through the first turn and maintain a strong fourth place throughout the race.
 
Romain Febvre: "It was quite challenging to find the best settings after the rain last night; I didn't feel comfortable this morning and we were searching for set-up but we managed to find solutions and the good start in Qualifying helped too. The pace was OK and I was riding with the guys at the front but this evening we will think about some more adjustments we can make for tomorrow."
 
KRT teammate Pauls Jonass, riding his home GP for the first time since 2022, celebrated with fifth-fastest time, on the same second as pole, in Timed Practice and rode a nice tight line through turn one of Qualifying to come out sixth and maintain that position throughout the race; the five-point haul lifts the Latvian into the top-ten of the series standings.
 
Pauls Jonass: "It's so nice to be here in Kegums for my home GP; it's been a while. Sometimes a home GP can be tough mentally with the pressure to succeed but it can also bring positive energy. The crowd has been amazing all day; I didn't expect so much support and that made me even happier to have delivered a good result for them today. Now I hope I can reward them with two good results tomorrow too."
 
Kawasaki Racing Team MX2's Mathis Valin finished fourth in Qualifying for the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship. The French teenager, coming off a career-first GP victory one week previously in Germany, swung wide through turn one from a mid-grid gate pick to secure an immediate fourth. He pressured the defending champion hard for several laps but there were few opportunites for passing on the fast surface and, with only a potential single point for any positional gain in Qualifying, he eventually settled for a risk-free fourth and a good choice of gate for each of tomorrow's more lucrative GP motos.
 
Mathis Valin: "I wasn't feeling too comfortable with the track in Timed Practice so I was quite far out at the gate for Qualifying but I could manage a good start and my flow was getting better as the track got drier each session and more lines opened up."
 
DRT Kawasaki's Kay Karssemakers needed time to settle during morning practice but he rode a determined first lap in Qualifying to advance from eleventh to eighth and hold that position for three laps; he surrendered one position to a hard-charging current year GP winner to add two more championship points to his account with a solid ninth-place finish; he has now closed to within six points of the top-ten in the series standings.
 
Kay Karssemakers: "The base of the track is a bit harder underneath than the sand tracks in Nederland so I didn't feel quite so good in practice, but Qualifying was much better. I was still riding too tight and got a little arm-pump but I scored another two points and am loking for two more top-ten finishes tomorrow."
 
 Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki's Francisco Garcia extended his lead in the European EMX250 Motocross Championship with a workmanlike moto victory - his eighth of the season - in the first moto of the weekend. The Spanish teenager rode a safe first turn to emerge fourth and soon settled into a comfortable third behind two fast-starting Scandinavian wild cards before upping his tempo after a few laps, setting the fastest laps of the race and making decisive passes on laps three and six to take the lead and immediately build a comfortable advantage over his chasers; he eventually coasted home five seconds clear of the runner-up. With Bud teammate Jake Cannon restricted to eighth despite a strong ride from fifteenth at the start, Garcia now leads the series standings by forty-two points with Cannon a further twelve ahead of third in the series. Kawasaki's lead in the Manufacturers Championship has now been extended to forty-one points.
 
Francisco Garcia: "The team has worked well on the starts and we are really consistent now. The two Scandinavian guys who holeshot were both riding a little crazy so I held back from them the first couple of laps before pushing for the lead. The track felt a little strange for me as we don't have anything like this back home in Spain. That was really important to get back to winning today so let's get a good night's rest and make it another double victory tomorrow."
 
Jake Cannon: "I never really settled all moto; I hope I can have a better feeling tomorrow."
