All teams and riders took advantage of the break to review the first five rounds and prepare for the upcoming GPs with training and testing; the Kawasaki Racing Team also successfully contested a number of national or international races during this break from championship action and are ready for the French GP, back at Lacapelle-Marival for the first time since 2021. We talked with each of them prior to the weekend action.
Romain Febvre: “We had some good engine tests recently; that's something we wanted for the starts and since Sardinia I've been getting better starts. On the track, honestly, the bike suits me well. I need to step it up in the second half of the season to regain points and try to compete for wins in the Grands Prix. My overall results to date didn't really reflect how I was riding except for Argentina. I had some bad luck with a crash in Spain and having to retire from the race. I also had a DNF in Arco during Qualifying. The results haven't really shown my true level, but I always remain motivated. That's why I keep going! Until now I've been lacking a little consistency throughout an entire race, but I love riding and, what's more, I know I'm able to fight at the front."
Pauls Jonass: “I’m feeling good; we had five really productive weeks. Straight after the last GP we had some suspension testing which were really constructive, and since that time I’ve been putting in the hours on the bike. We did a little more testing with the engine parts, and I feel really comfortable. It was strange to have such a long break; at first you think what shall I do, keep going or take a short rest as from now it will be quite intense. But for myself I wanted to improve on some things so I just kept working hard and hopefully that will be reflected in the results.”
Mathis Valin : “I have the speed; I know that. And I've been able to get good starts during the last few GPs; that's important as it completely changes your race. When you get a good start and you have the speed, you've already done a big part of the job. Now, the rest has to fall into place. I've been getting a bit tense during the races and haven't been riding like I do in practice; sometimes it is taking me too long to overtake other riders. Maybe I'm trying too hard, and that has been holding me back instead of freeing me up. In practice, I'm much more relaxed, and that's the kind of feeling I need to rediscover in the races.”
